Landry- 1 Month

I am planning to post a monthly update on Landry to record his milestones and firsts.  I am modeling these posts after my friend, Brittany's monthly update posts on her daughter, Lily over at A Merry Heart.  I couldn't have come up with a better outline myself, so I hope she is flattered that I am borrowing hers :)

So much change in 1 month!

Landry, it is still hard to believe that you are actually here sometimes.  It seems like we were waiting for your arrival for so long.  Even before you were growing in Mommy's tummy, we were talking about you and when you would be here and who you would be.  We are so grateful for God's perfect timing. Our life definitely changed that Wednesday afternoon when you came into our lives, and we wouldn't have it any other way.  A lot of people told us that these days would fly by, and while it is hard to believe you are already a month old, we have tried to savor every moment and enjoy every stage.  This month, you have grown more than 2 pounds and almost 2 inches.  You have met all of your grandparents and both of your aunts.  You have been shopping with Mommy, out to eat with Mommy and Daddy, and your favorite place to go is church, where we are at least a couple times a week.

Weight: 9 lbs. 3 oz. (32nd percentile)   Height: 21.5 inches (43rd percentile)

Firsts:  Everything was a first this month!
* First bath
* First restaurant (9/2/12)- Moe's with Aunt Rachel, Nena, and Poppy
* First day at home with Daddy (9/14/12)- Mommy went to a women's retreat and you stayed home     with Daddy all day and did great!
* First doctor's appointment
* First shot
* First UT football game (8/31/12)- Tennessee played NC State and won 35-21!
* First time taking a bottle (9/10/12)
* First nap in crib
                         .......and many more!

Milestones:
 - Grabbing at things overhead
 - Enjoying tummy time and can lift head off of play mat
 - Starting to make cooing noises and smiling more
 - Looking in the direction of noises and following things with your eyes

Like Mommy: Fortunately, you have Mommy's small ears.  You also have a small head like Mommy (you are only in the 6th percentile for head circumference).

Like Daddy: You have times during the day where you are very active just like Daddy.  You also have a lot of Daddy's facial expressions and most people tell you that you look just like Daddy.

Mommy's Favorite: Mommy loves to hear all the new noises that you are making everyday.  She also loves your little "pouty" face, the one you make right before you are about the cry.

Daddy's Favorite: Daddy loves seeing you smile, and you are smiling more and more everyday.  He also loves holding and rocking you until you fall asleep.

How We Spend Our Day: You wake up between 6 and 6:30 and are ready to eat.  After Mommy feeds you, you snuggle with Daddy and usually go back to sleep.  After you eat again around 9, you take a bath and then play on your play mat.  You love to look up into the mirror and grab at the toys.  You eat about every 3 hours and take an hour and a half nap in between each feeding.  We usually get out of the house about once a day, and on most days, take a walk around the block.   We often Skype with either Nena and Poppy or Grandmommy and Grandaddy.  Your last feeding is around 9:30 or 10, and then you go right to bed and just wake up once during the night around 3 to eat and going right back to sleep.

Best Memory: Of course, the best memory from this month is the moment you were born.  Daddy and Mommy were so excited. There was lots of laughter and happy tears when we heard your cry (more like a scream).

Biggest Challenge:  Mommy is trying to teach you to fall asleep on your own in your crib but so far it hasn't happened yet.  You fall asleep well in your swing or being bounced in the bouncer or being rocked.  Mommy is not frustrated yet because she knows you are still so little, so we are learning in small steps.

How We Celebrated Your 1st Month: We had a photo shoot with you in your 1 month tie.  You watched some of a Beth Moore simulcast with Mommy during the day.  That night, we went to the Jones' house to watch the TN-FL game. We had to leave a little early because you were fussy and ready to sleep.  Although the Vols were not victorious, we had a fun time hanging out with friends.

Landry, we have loved meeting you and getting to know you.  You change more and more everyday.  You are such a fun, easy going baby and really only cry when your tummy hurts or when you are extremely tired.  We can't wait to see what changes are in store for this next month.
