A Girls' Weekend and My First Baby Shower

A few weekends ago, I went to Columbia, SC where my sister Rachel lives.  My best friend, Natalie, drove down from D.C. to meet me, and to my surprise my other sister, Lauren, was there all the way from Iowa.  It was the long-awaited girls' weekend that I desperately needed.  We had a great time, doing what girls do best- eating, laughing, and of course, there was a little crying involved.

On Saturday, we made the hour and half drive to Charleston.  I was the only one that had never been, and so at my request, we spent the day in the low country.  Upon arrival, we were all starving and needing to find a bathroom.  After walking around for 30 minutes, we finally found both.  Below is a picture of Natalie, Rachel, and Lauren sitting in the courtyard of the little deli where we ate lunch.

A beautiful old theater, which reminded me a little of New Orleans.

A terrible picture of Nat and I on the carriage tour.

Some more beautiful houses.  Being in Charleston made me want to go back to Savannah.

Restaurant where we ate dinner.  It was delicious and incredibly filling.

On Sunday we went to brunch at the Original Pancake House before attending church.  After church it was cold and rainy, and all I wanted to do was go back to the apartment and crash on the couch in front of a movie.  However, Natalie had other plans.  She begged me to go with her to get a pedicure.  I was not excited about getting back out in the cold rain and attempted to suggest we just have a lazy Sunday afternoon.  We finally went to get a pedicure, then we went to a consignment shop, then we went to Starbucks, and finally to get some cupcakes.  When we got back to the apartment, I saw this on the door and realized why she was being so adamant about going out for the afternoon.

The three of them had planned a surprise baby shower!

Jokingly, Rachel and Lauren raided the $1 bin at Target to get all this cute lion stuff.  Cute or not, some of it is being returned :)

We played a game where I had to guess the baby food.  I think I did fairly well and was appreciative that there were no peas or green beans, although the turkey meal was not that tasty.

Thanks so much to my sisters and best friend for a lovely weekend and a wonderful surprise shower.  Baby Hawk is certainly blessed to have such fun-loving aunts!!!
